- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- Optional: 1/2 cup raisins or chopped nuts
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, warm water, and sugar until combined.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise at room temperature for 4-6 hours or until doubled in size.
2. Create the Cinnamon Swirl:
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Brush the melted butter over the dough.
- Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over the buttered dough.
- Add raisins or nuts if desired.
3. Shape and Bake:
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, pinching the seams to seal.
- Place the log in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let it rise for another 1-2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
Tips & Tricks:
For an extra touch, try adding raisins or nuts to the cinnamon swirl for added texture and flavor.
Patience is key with sourdough! Allowing the dough to rise properly will result in a better texture and flavor.
If you prefer a sweeter bread, increase the sugar in the cinnamon swirl to taste.
