Meal Prep a Salad In Jar

One of the biggest things people do is make excuses.  I have no time, I cant afford it, I cant lose weight.  Blah, blah, blah!

Listen- excuses are a way to avoid responsibility.

"If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.  So its important to come up with a plan and follow through" this is something I coach people on.  Planning is the key to success.

If you have a goal you are working towards, you need to have an action plan in order to reach your goal- otherwise a goal without a plan is just a wish.

Weight loss is a big topic.  Many people at one time or another have had a weight loss goal.  One of the biggest things we can do when achieving weight loss is to plan what you are going to eat.  If you wing it- almost always you will over eat, and usually on things that are going to hinder your weight loss efforts.

This is where Meal Prepping comes in and saves the day!

When it comes to meal prep - and believe me I hear most of my clients groan- sometimes out loud and sometimes I can see the look of disapproval cross their eyes as they gently nod their heads.

Hear me out for a hot minute!

Meal prepping doesn't need to be complicated and ugly.  I promise.  Simply setting aside some time each week will save the day when you are tired, and hangry!

One of my favourite things to prep are Salads in a Jar.  These can last up to a week when done properly, and if you get creative they are anything but boring!

Honestly- this is a game changer.  You will have one meal covered without stressing about it, you will save money, use less ingredients and when using a mason jar its easy clean up and simple to bring with you!

I like using quart sized mason jars because they are great for individual salads and are the perfect sizer for lunch or dinner ( I am looking at you shift workers!!)

The key to making your salad in a jar last up to a week is how you layer it!

First, you want to layer the bottom of the jar with salad dressing.  Making your dressings are easy, and much healthier for you.

Next you add the harder vegetables and fruits- like carrots, radishes, onions, peppers etc.  Then you should add any beans, grains or pasta if you are using them.

Protein and cheese is next up.  Makes sure you use cooked protein!

You end the layering with your lettuce/salad greens.  Voila!  You have just made your salad in a jar!  If you like to add berries, seeds, dried fruit or avocados I would add these the day you are going to enjoy your salad to keep them tasting their best!

When you are ready to eat just shake the contents from your jar into a bowl and lightly toss with a fork!

If you allow yourself to be creative, and think outside the box, there is no room for excuses to eat healthier, be prepared and reach your goals.
